The week of December 19-23, 2018 the annual Christmas Boat Parade came back to Palm St, Newport Beach. While driving up there it was as if you were part of some car parade! Cars everywhere lead to traffic and difficulty finding parking. In fact, there were people parking where it wasn’t parking and standing right next to their car to see the boat parade pass them by.
Areas were crowded to stand and watch the parade, but it was still manageable to see the bright lights from the boats. It was fascinating looking at all these boats pass by with their own light designs. There was a great variety from a circus, Santa’s sleigh, a Christmas tree, Charlie Brown, and so much more! Most boats had music and members aboard giving holiday wishes. Some people who got into the roles, such as Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus which was a delight to see especially since there was so many kids around.
The last day of the boat parade there were some fireworks launched from the Balboa Pier. The boat parade already has up a schedule for this year’s Christmas Boat Parade located on their websites with more details of times. This year’s boat parade will initiate the 18-22 of December with three parades each day. It was just a great place to spend some quality time with family and friends and get into the Christmas spirit.
